An important aspect of student’s education is learning to find what he needs. Because much of his work in the years ahead will be with textbooks, reference books, periodicals and other learning aids, it will be worth knowing how to use the library and its sources.

The student therefore should familiarize himself with the school library – its rules and regulations, its location, its trained staff, as well as its method of classifying and arranging books so that he can effectively use its resources.

DIFFERENT SECTIONS OF THE LIBRARY

  1. Reference Section These are encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, almanacs, and yearbooks, subject reference books that are systematically arranged for class work or personal inquiries.

  2. Reserved Book Section Books that are reserved are read in the library, and they cannot be drawn out for home use.

  3. Filipiniana Section Any book or pamphlet that deals about the Philippines including the award-winning plays and novels written by Filipinos.

  4. Periodical Section Magazines, periodical, newspapers and Gazette Patnubay that contain interesting articles and current issues.

  5. General Circulation Section In this section we find non-fiction and fiction books, novels, plays and poems which students can draw out for several days.

BOOKSHELVES

Our library uses the Dewey Decimal system as an arrangement of books on the shelves. This divides the whole field of knowledge into ten main classes and assigned into each class number.

  8. Bestselling pocketbooks like Harry Potter’s latest editions.

  9. Teen pocketbooks like Barbara’s Park, Sweet Valley High, Nancy Drew

  10. Book of fairytales

  11. Up to date of Guinnes Book of World Records

  12. Up to date World Almanac

  13. Up to date copy of Health and Home Journal for Better Living.

MAGAZINES/NEWSPAPERS

Our library has three newspaper subscriptions; The Philippine Star, Philippine Daily Inquirer and Manila Bulletin. We also have foreign and local magazines as sources of information.

BOOK REVIEWS

Students can borrow book reviews in different subject areas. We have reviewers of National Quizzer with different subject areas intended for the student-contestants. MSA High School Entrance Test Reviewer for incoming first year, MSA NEAT and High school Entrance Test, MSA College Entrance Examinations and Newton College Reviewer.

LIBRARY SERVICE

Our library has internet program and photo copying services.
